A writing competition that I think you people will be interested in, though the title is too gaudy for my taste. Still it’s a worthy cause but I doubt it will inspire anything given our current state of mind. And Perlini’s Silver is sponsoring the prizes?! Oh wait till you see who are the judges.

Win a grand total of over $1500 worth of cash, and prizes sponsored by Perlini’s Silver.
A SHORT HISTORY OF INSPIRE
The Inspire National Writing Competition is part of Inspire ’07 – a charity project aimed at raising funds and awareness for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
A Young ChangeMakers project since 2005, Inspire ’07 is supported by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and the National Youth Council. This is the first year that Inspire has included a writing competition alongside a sister photography competition.
The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund is an annual community project initiated by The Straits Times to provide pocket money for children from low-income families. This aims to ease the financial burden of parents when providing for their children’s education. This year, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, which is jointly run by The Straits Times and the National Council of Social Service, will need $2.7 million to help 9,000 needy children.
A new addition to the Inspire project, the Inspire writing competition aims to gather together the best creative writing works from the minds of today’s youth and compile them into a printed compilation, “INSPIRE”.
The compilation “INSPIRE” will be launched in mid-July this year.
Five thousand copies of “INSPIRE” will be printed and sold for charity, and all proceeds go to helping needy children through the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
Our esteemed panel of judges for the writing competition this year includes Mr Aaron Maniam and Ms Hoh Poh Fun.
Prizes have been generously sponsored by Perlini’s Silver.
